Omega Speedmaster 'Ed White' Calibre 321 Re-creation

Examining the engineering fidelity of Omega's reconstructed column-wheel chronograph movement and its secondary market pricing metrics over standard iterations.

Omega Speedmaster chronograph detail close up

1. Re-engineering the Column-Wheel Calibre 321

When Omega announced the return of Calibre 321, tomographic scanning technology of astronaut Gene Cernan's Apollo 17 watch was utilized to recreate every bridge, lever, and wheel to historical fidelity.

Unlike serial Speedmasters, Calibre 321 timepieces are produced in a dedicated Atelier in Bienne, Switzerland, assembled from start to finish by a single watchmaker per movement.

2. Secondary Market Performance

Due to restricted annual output (estimated under 1,500 units globally), Reference 311.30.40.30.01.010 maintains a persistent secondary premium compared to standard production Speedmasters.

Retail MSRP $15,400 USD
Secondary Standard $16,800 — $18,200 USD
